After the big casting news hit that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures FINALLY decided on their new Spider-Man with 19-year old British actor Tom Holland, Marvel has followed up with clarification over whether or not the new webslinger of the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be appearing in next year’s Captain America: Civil War… And the answer is a resounding YES!
In a report by The Hollywood Reporter during an interview with Marvel Studios’ head Kevin Feige, Holland will immediately begin his new role as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man in next year’s Marvel film – which follows directly after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man and will see Chris Evans’ Captain America at odds with Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man over a Superhuman Registration Act that regulates superhuman activity in the world and requires heroes to unmask.
Winning the part over other young hopefuls, Holland proved his worth because he performs his own stunts (which you can check out via his Instagram posts featured in Business Insider). The 19-Year old is a big Spider-Man fan, and screen tested well in his audition to play Marvel’s wall-crawling superhero, doing it in the presence of Chris Evans and RDJ no less. How the events of Captain America: Civil War play out remains to be seen… But we’ll officially be seeing Spidey in the MCU for the first time on that film, followed by his own solo flick jointly produced by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, and directed by Jon Watts, which will be released on July 28 2017.
Catch Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War when it arrives in theaters on May 6, 2016.
