Revealed via Batman comic book artist Jock’s official Twitter page, a brand new look for Jared Leto’s interpretation of DC Comics’ villain The Joker has graced the limited edition cover of the December 2015 issue of Empire Magazine, showing off a very modernized and tattoo-riddled “Mistah J” that’s kind of a tribute to his classic Pre-New 52 look while adding some layers of crazy at the same time.
Above is a look at The Joker’s classic look, with his trademark suit and cane. Jared Leto’s version for the DC Cinematic Universe tries a similar approach for the Empire cover, but does without inner clothing and wears nothing but jogging pants. The only thing kept intact is the crocodile skinned trenchcoat’s color scheme, which is The Clown Prince of Crime’s signature purple color.
It still remains to be seen how Leto’s Joker fares in the DCU and what his true intentions are in Suicide Squad, but he’ll definitely be dealing with Task Force X. He’ll also be encountering a certain Caped Crusader in that movie, who’ll be played by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice actor Ben Affleck. In fact, The Joker is rumored to be making a cameo appearance himself in the March 25, 2016 summer blockbuster flick that puts The Man of Steel and The Dark Knight at odds against each other, so it’ll probably flesh out more of the animosity Bats and The Clown have against one another for audiences to see.
Suicide Squad will be released in theaters on August 5, 2016.
