As the world still remains divided over the presentation and box office result of this past March’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment aim to move forward and improve things by changing the dark and grim direction that film presented and turn the next big gathering of heroes into one filled with hope and optimism. That movie of course will be “Justice League” – which will bring together the most famous heroes from the DC Universe and pit them against a greater threat that any one of them has faced before.
Of course, fans and moviegoers got a glimpse of the heroes banding together this year, when Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman fought together against Doomsday in Batman v Superman. While that scene was nothing short of epic, the film in its entirety suffered from mixed reviews from viewers and critics alike, forcing WB to change tactics and bring in a veteran who’s knowledge and passion for all things DC Comics comes without question – writer and DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns. He’ll be overseeing more of how the following DC Films are structured and presented, and while Zack Snyder will once again be directing Justice League, he’ll be getting much needed consultation and assistance from Johns as well as Batman actor Ben Affleck, who also serves as executive producer for the upcoming 2017 film.
With the movie still in production, Warner Bros. invited a group of reporters to visit the set of Justice League in London, and a few trickles of information came out as a result. True enough, the film will be lighter in tone and will establish the team’s formation under Batman – who was inspired by Superman’s selfless sacrifice at the end of BvS and is determined to gather the rest of the metahumans to protect earth from the coming threat that Lex Luthor raved about in the film’s end. Justice League’s primary villain won’t be Darkseid (yet), but rather one of his leading commanders in Steppenwolf and his parademons.
