There are Two (2) key improvements in the new update:
- Fixed a bug that kept defeated Pokémon at 1HP; these Pokémon will now return as fainted Pokémon. Currently working on rebalancing the training battle.
- Implemented Pokémon Appraisal: Trainers will now be able to learn about a Pokémon’s attack and defense capabilities from their Team Leader (Candela, Blanche, or Spark) to determine which of their Pokémon have the most potential for battle.
The Pokémon Appraisal
We have shared in our previous article that each Pokémon is ‘born’ with specific Individual Values (IVs) which varies from 0 to 15 based on your current Pokémon level when you caught or hatched them.
Learning about your Pokémon’s IV would be very helpful in fighting in gyms and determining which Pokemon to evolve or which needs powering-up. Each Pokémon’s Stamina and Defense are very important when defending in gym battles.
Several 3rd Party providers (independent of Niantic) have released tools like the Poké Assistant IV Calculator, for you to easily determine these IVs.
Now with the new update, there is a less of a need to use these tools because of the in-app feature of Pokémon Appraisal. Through their team leaders, Candela, Blanche, or Spark, will inform you of your Pokémon that have the most potential for battle including it’s Health Point, Stamina, Attack and Defense.
To use the appraisal feature, view the Pokémon you wish to appraise, click on the circular Pokémon option button, and click on the ‘Appraise’ link.
Understanding the Appraisals
From Gamepress.gg have shared their interpretation on what each Team Leader’s appraisal.
