If you ever find yourself attending an international con like the Tokyo Game Show 2016, there are only two things you must do. 1) Stay away from the Merch Caravan. 2) STAY AWAY FROM THE MERCH CARAVAN! It will suck the life out of your wallet! O_O
When half the three halls of the Makuhari Messe are dedicated to just merch, you know you’re in for the fight (over your overspending self) of your life!
Fair Warning, the following images may trigger feelings of inadequacy especially if you only brought a few buckaroos and/or decisively left your credit card at home to amply “budget” your (imminent) spending.
Let’s start with Capcom’s booth
And we’re moving on to Sega/ Atlus
Then there’s Bandai-Namco for some bizarre finds
Or the Minecraft Booth
And there’s this booth too…
But probably the most epic merch booth at the Tokyo Game Show 2016 would be Square-Enix’s store set-up!
Square divided their shop into two booths. This is the entrance to the main shop.
This is the entrance to the Music store
The main merch shop showcased the various upcoming Playarts Kai toys like Iron Man, Black Spider-man, Carnage Edit: Venom Red Color Variant, and two very interesting mashup between Batman and his villains.
Of course, Square Merch shop wouldn’t be complete without some Final Fantasy.
You can purchase these new 4 from FF 15 here as well.
There’s jewelry as well.
And, as mentioned, CD’s, DVD’s and Blurays on the other Booth
There are more shops here as well focusing on other IPs and interesting finds. Suffice to say this is but a glimpse of what you can find here at the Tokyo Game Show 2016. If you have the tenacity to resist purchasing anything, we applaud you. For us…well…this happened…
Which isn’t that bad, considering that we had to contend with a crowd this big! O_O
In any case, if you plan to attend the Tokyo Game Show next year, we urge you to hit the Merch Caravan first (just to get everything out of the way already) – or you know, not shop at all, but we all know your geeky self wouldn’t allow you to do that. 😉
