Aaaaaaaaannnnd it’s back! Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak’s Silicon Valley Comic Con (SVCC) 2017 is now in full swing. SVCC runs through April 21 to 23 at the San Jose Convention Center, California.
For those that don’t know, Silicon Valley Comic Con is one of the other bigger geek and comicbook convention this side of the Bay Area and brings together America’s two greatest superheroes: Pop Culture and Technology.
As with last year’s SVCC coverage, we were able to go to the Preview Night held before the weekend. There we stumbled upon a slew of iconic pop culture icons and met some folks from my childhood past – some of the cast from Sesame Street.
Here’s are our day 1 highlights:
Right-off the bat, we were greeted with this stunning prop work of a T-800 holding a smaller T-800. Yes, the future is weird and apparently super meta.
Throngs of people are already scattered throughout the con. Expect the size to triple by tomorrow. Lord, save us.
We did get to meet some childhood idols. Any 80’s babies here or at least got to watch Sesame Street? Remember them?
We also got in breathing-distance with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak (we tried getting an interview with him but the dude is obviously very busy, as you can tell).
There’s this nifty humanoid robot from SoftBank too that were roaming around the VIP area. They aim to entertain.
We also met some cool peeps from the gaming/ geek industry.
We’re uber hyped up for the rest of the show. We’ll try to get some word out from various geek icons and celebrities such as Ernie Reyes Jr. (TMNT 2: Secret of the Ooze) , Andy Weir (Author of The Martian), Burt Ward and Adam West (classic Batman)!
We’re also attending a Grant Gustin panel on Sunday so watch out for that as well! For more SVCC stuff, stay tuned to Ungeek.ph!
