No cash, no problem! PayMaya made shopping a whole lot easier and thus malling, well, much more fun.
As Robin Sparkles (aka Robin Scherbatsky from HIMYM) said, “Everybody come and play. Throw every last care away! Let’s go to the mall, today!” , it’s exactly what the cashless payment company wants for every Pinoy shopper.
The company has been working hard to give Filipino shoppers a taste of how it is to shop in budding first world countries like China, Japan, Korea and Singapore. With the move to go beyond your wallet, PayMaya has laid the ground work and infrastructure to ensure seamless cashless transactions between you and a vendor.
Sure, there’s a PayMaya card which acts like any other debit card with the added fucntionality of an atm but the cashless payment company wants you to truly embrace technology and rely heavily on the app. While app payments were the first to be rolled out, PayMaya added speed and ease of transaction via the PayMaya QR.
Paying is more convenient and all you really did was open the app and tap your phone (of course this pre-supposes you have enough balance in your PayMaya wallet).
But a payment system is only as good as the vendors that would accept the payment terms. This is where SM comes in. Being the biggest name in retail shopping here in the Philippines, SM provides PayMaya account holders to shop a multitude of branded goods and services across the entire Philippines with further ease and convenience.
To encourage more Pinoy shoppers to use PayMaya and its QR Payment system, they’re currently conducting a 10% rebate promo (up to Php 100 per branch per day) for all purchases made using PayMaya QR at all branches of The SM Store from January 15 to April 15, 2018. Oh, and for every Php 1000 spend, they get a chance to win an Iphone X. Whoa!
PayMaya has been rapidly securing partner retailers that will accept their various cashless payment systems and placing more locations for you to top-up your PayMaya wallets (15,000 locations as of this writing).
“We are happy to have a new way to make shopping more convenient for our shoppers,” said The SM Store President Chelo C. Monasterio. “The retail landscape is changing, and The SM Store is proud to lead the way with partners like PayMaya.”
It is indeed. If you look outside our borders, a lot of our Asian neighbors have shifted to a much more cashless society be it with the use of credit/ debit cards, beep cards or QR scanning. Physical cash and coins are quickly becoming a thing of the past.
“More and more Filipinos are using cashless payments with PayMaya, and we’re excited to work with like-minded companies such as SM in innovating on the retail shopping experience with the help of our payment technologies. With companies like SM taking the lead, we’ll see PayMaya QR in a lot more stores and establishments all around the country,” said Manuel V. Pangilinan, Chairman at PLDT, Smart, Voyager, and PayMaya.
Hopefully this move of SM will open up other key retailers to augment their payment system with PayMaya’s QR payment system and move us to be at close to, if not at par, with how our Asian neighbors shop.
