September 5 was supposed to be the Philippine release date of acclaimed anime movie Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms. Sadly, what greeted our morning was an announcement from Pioneer Films that the release date has been moved to a later date.
Thankfully though, we didn’t have to wait too long. Pioneer Films has recently announced through the Viewer’s Choice Philippines Facebook page that Maquia will screen in select cinemas in the Philippines on September 19!
The previous date did not push through due to a lack of cinema availability; here’s hoping that this date is final and won’t be abruptly canceled or moved again. What’s concerning though is that it might not be on PH cinemas for too long, especially if not a lot of people watch it.
The only solution to this of course is for us to go to theaters next week! Maquia might be one of this year’s best anime movies, especially as it has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes right now. This means it’s definitely a must-watch for anime fans.

Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms is coming to PH cinemas via Pioneer Films. Pioneer will also be the ones to bring the My Hero Academia: Two Heroes movie to cinemas in the country next month.
