Back when it was shown in theaters last month, I thought that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse might just be the best animated film of 2018. Now, it looks like it truly is the best of the year as it just won Best Animated Feature Film at the 76th Golden Globe Awards!
Spider-Verse beat out these four other films in its category including movies such as Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs and Mamoru Hosoda’s Mirai. While all of the other nominees are great movies in their own right, Spider-Verse is just that good. Not only is it one of the best Spider-Man movies ever, it’s also a movie that can easily be enjoyed by even non-Spidey fans.
In case you missed out on the movie, it follows Miles Morales, a teenager who gets bitten by a radioactive spider and gains powers of his own. He then gets entangled in a plot by Kingpin, which also results in the appearance of Spideys from different universes.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse features an all-star voice cast including actors such as Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber, Nicolas Cage, and many more. The film was released last December 14, 2018 to rave reviews; it currently sits at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes!
