Cats, the internet loves them and now, so does HONOR, the value-for-money phone brand that has been making waves with their awesome offering since last year. Packing flagship-like features on mid-range and entry-level smartphones, HONOR was able to establish itself within this highly competitive industry.
This time around, they went a wee bit left-field as they decided to unveil the brand’s latest ambassador, Meowington – an actual cat.
Yup, meet the latest face of the HONOR 8c, the brand’s budget entry-level phone addition to the growing Honor 8 family, a series of phones that houses capable hardware that will not leave a hole in your wallets.
The latest smartphone’s back case employs the “Cat’s Eye” design, which, perhaps is the reason why they sought the help of the Meowington himself and his cohorts.
While we may not have direct access to the luxuriously slinky feline, we did manage to catch up with some of his contemporaries and got a word (or in this case a meow) or two regarding Meowington and his deal with the Honor 8c.
HONOR 8C, the C stands for “Cats”
We caught up with these trio of fine fellows and boy do they have a handful to say about Meowington and his recent project.
Dustin “Dusty” Archibald Remington III R
Dusty
“I’ve known Meowington since we were tiny little kitties. It astounds me to hear that he’s this pseudo-celebrity, what do you call it–?”
[UNGEEK]
“Uh, brand ambassador?”
Dusty
“Ambassadorship, you say? My, my! That is intriguing, to say the least.
[UNGEEK]
“We were wondering if you can give us a few thoughts on Mr. Meowington’s new role for HONOR 8c.”
Dusty
“It’s this thing here, right? Ooh, I am loving that. Sleek corners and all.”
[UNGEEK]
“Yeah it has a 6.26” display, an octa-core processor and flagship-like internal batteries. It has AI Cameras, as well.”
Dusty
“AI, you say? I’m somewhat understanding now why Meowington chose to partner up with this, then. He has a particular like for those self-portrait images that you take yourself, what do you call them again?”
[UNGEEK]
“You mean selfies?”
Dusty
“Yes, that’s it! Oh, that cat’s still stylish until now, I see. Always love the glitz and glam. The phone’s pretty slick, I guess.”
[UNGEEK]
“The phone comes in Cat-Eye Blue and Midnight Black. I guess that’s why they partnered with Meowington on this.”
Dusty
“Well black is more of my color. (Goes well with my fur) But the blue one does seem more up to the old Meowington’s color scheme. It does make his eye pop more. Kudos to him, though. I see he’s basking it in once again, not that he’s ever been new to limelight.”
Did Dusty just throw some shade down Meowington’s way? Cats? I guess. Hopefully Rumfold might give a bit more insight to this odd partnership between phone and feline.
Rumfold
Rumfold
“W-what? What’s happening? Is it bright out already? Yaawwwn. I’ve been snoozing here and – wait a minute, what’s this? What’s this on my belly?”
[UNGEEK]
Why it’s the new HONOR phone. I’m glad you noticed.
Rumfold
“Noticed? It’s sitting comfortably on my belly! Of course, I’d notice it!”
[UNGEEK]
“We just thought it would look nice just cozily staying there. You don’t mind, do you?”
Rumfold
“…I…, well, I suppose not. I mean, it’s cool to the touch anyway despite the bright light it emits. Also…is that…what is that rhythmic thing? I like it.”
[UNGEEK]
“Oh, you mean, music? Yeah, we’re playing some soothing tunes.”
Rumfold
“Okay, I like that. That thing, can stay. Does it come in any other color?”
[UNGEEK]
“It comes in Cat-Eye Blue?”
Rumfold
“Cat-Eye Blue, huh? That’s my color, if you can tell. Okay, get that and plop it on my belly with the soothing rhythmic thingamajig. My eyes are getting…heavy…agai—zzzzzzzz”
Rats! (Pun, slightly intended) Not much luck there. Last cat on this trail would be the elusive Lady Cleo. She evaded us a few times during the interview but now that she’s gotten to the pantry for a quick bite, we’re hoping she can a meowment or two. 😉
The Lady Cleo
Why hello there, Cleo, my what a fine specimen you are.
The Lady Cleo
“Purrrr, what do you want, darrlling? I’m quite busy, as you can see”
[UNGEEK]
“Just thought we’d let you know that Mr. Meowington is the new face of this phone?”
The Lady Cleo
“He is? Mmm….that’s rather, purrrfect, yes?”
[UNGEEK]
“Well, it’s the first time a smartphone partnered with, well, a cat?”
The Lady Cleo
“And, this bothers you?”
[UNGEEK]
“Well, not necessarily, we just find it curious. I mean, it has been a while since a product like this reached to you guys particularly with your proclivity to, shall we say, mischief.”
The Lady Cleo
“Mischief? Moi? Why, I never–! No, no, no, dearie, you misunderstood us. When we push your ‘toys’ and trinkets in high flung areas, it’s not us being mischievous, we simply like to be surrounded with worth-while things. Like this one.”
[UNGEEK]
“So…you’re saying you won’t be pushing the HONOR 8c any time soon.”
The Lady Cleo
“Well pushing its buttons, sure. I believe we can get a lot out of this unit. Hours of fun, and all that.”
[UNGEEK]
“Well, it does run on 4000mah battery. That means, almost a whole day without the need to charge on heavy usage.”
The Lady Cleo
“Purrrrfection.”
Oh well, I guess, it’s hard-pressed for us to get any more out of the three.
HONOR 8C, the C stands for “Creativity”
In all seriousness, the HONOR 8c allows you to be creative wherever and whenever you want it. With Ai-equipped cameras that help optimize your shots depending on what you’re shooting, you can get the best outcome as often as possible. If you’re shooting with low light though, just ensure you get enough light and/or have a way to keep your phone (or the subject) steady.
HONOR 8C, the C stands for “Cost-savings”
The HONOR 8C, is sub Php 8,000 pesos phone and one of the cheapest from the company. With the cat’s eye design and a penchant for all things furry, the HONOR 8C is one fine specimen that our feline friends fancy.
