In the next couple of years, expect wireless internet to become even faster thanks to 5G technology. Sure, right now we’re still quite a ways away from having widespread 5G connectivity, but companies such as Huawei have been spearheading the push for more 5G internet in the Philippines.
While you may know Huawei as a smartphone brand, one of the tech giant’s main businesses is telecommunications equipment, so it comes as no surprise that Huawei is leading the way for ubiquitous 5G internet in the country. In fact, Huawei is also at the forefront of 5G globally, having already signed more than fifty (50) commercial contracts with network operators across the globe.
The advantage of 5G is not just for smartphones though, it will also be a great alternative to fiber and fixed cable networks, especially for areas that lack cable infrastructure. 5G for home is actually rolling out in select areas in the PH thanks to Huawei’s parntership with Globe for Globe At Home Air Fiber 5G.
Air Fiber 5G is basically a wireless internet connection for home users, and it uses a Huawei 5G CPE Pro modem that is equipped with 5G multi-mode modem chipset called Balong 5000. This allows users experience up to 10 times faster speeds as compared to its predecessor, 4G LTE.
