Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Japan has recently declared a state of emergency to help stem the spread of the SARS-Cov-2 virus. Because of this, a lot of businesses in Japan have temporarily halted or scaled back their operations, including studios such as Toei Animation which recently announced that the release of new episodes of One Piece and Digimon Adventure will be suspended for the time being.
Here is Toei’s full statement regarding the delay:
“To All Our Fans,
“Due to the state of emergency in Japan caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have carefully considered the safety measures for the spread and have decided to suspend the simulcast and Japanese broadcasting of both “One Piece” & our new series, “Digimon Adventure:” for the time being. Updates on the return of both series will be provided as soon as we know. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. Please stay safe and healthy.”
