With people all over the world encouraged to stay at home to help slow the spread of COVID-19, a lot of office workers are currently working from home and communicating with their workmates via online meetings. Work aside, people are also using online video calls to keep in touch with friends and family.
Given the rise in the use of online video calls, people are getting creative and are using backgrounds during virtual meetings, whether for privacy reasons or if their rooms are a bit messy. If you are one of those who prefer having a background, Studio Ghibli has released free wallpapers for use in video calls to add a touch of whimsy to your next web conference.
Right now, there are eight free backgrounds to choose from, each based on a Studio Ghibli film:
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
Spirited Away
Laputa: Castle in the Sky
Princess Mononoke
Ponyo
The Tale of the Princess Kaguya
The Secret World of Arrietty
Howl’s Moving Castle
Aside from these eight backgrounds, more wallpapers are set to release soon. And while these are all provided for free to use in video calls, users are not allowed to use them for commercial purposes.
