Back in May, the TGS 2020 organizers have announced that Tokyo Game Show 2020 is cancelled, though an online event to replace it is planned. Now, the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) has officially announced that Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online is happening on September 23-27, 2020.
The online event is happening on those dates via the official TGS website (https://tgs.cesa.or.jp/). While the dates have been confirmed, there’s no word yet on which game developers/publishers will be present at the TGS online event.
What we do know about TGS 2020 Online is that there will be a livestream of an esports tournament, as well as online round-table discussion covering the latest topics in the world of gaming, all of which will be available free of charge.
On the business side of things, TGS 2020 Online will also host an online business matching system, meaning exhibitors can connect with relevant businesses/individuals via online meetings and other networking opportunities.
Tokyo Game Show 2020 has been cancelled for this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. TGS 2020 isn’t the only major gaming event that has been cancelled though, the likes of E3 and gamescom have also been postponed to next year. This likely means that we won’t see any major video game event for the rest of the year for safety reasons.
More info on TGS 2020 Online will be announced soon.
