Since around the start of this year, new Huawei smartphones (including the new P40 Pro+) have been released with the AppGallery, Huawei’s own app store. Even though it hasn’t even been a year yet since the AppGallery’s release, it’s now the third biggest app store in the world, and that’s thanks to the ever increasing number of apps being made available on it, including the likes of Facebook, TikTok, Viber, Zoom, GCash, PayMaya, Lazada, and many more.
Thanks to the AppGallery’s comprehensive list of available apps, coupled with the use of third-party stores, downloading your favorite apps on a Huawei phone is quite a straightforward process. Now though, downloading apps has been made much easier, and that’s all thanks to the new Huawei Petal Search Widget.
Available now on the P40 Pro+ and on other Huawei smartphones, the Petal Search Widget is your gateway to a million apps as it combines the functions of a search engine with an app store. Basically, with the Petal Search Widget, you can just look up the app you need, and then download it in an instant.
For example, when you’re looking for an app that’s not yet available on the AppGallery (say Mobile Legends for example), instead of going to a third-party store, you can instead type in “Mobile Legends” on the Petal Search Widget. After pressing enter, you’ll be presented with search results, including a link for Mobile Legends that’s taken from third-party stores, with a quick option to download and install. Essentially, the Petal Search Widget makes downloading apps from third-party sources way easier for users.
The Petal Search Widget isn’t made just for downloading apps from other sites though, it also gives you results from the AppGallery if the app you’re looking for is available on Huawei’s store. Plus, Petal Search displays a curated selection of content, including weather forecasts, news, sports scores/schedules, music, and image/video results.
So how do you search for apps on the Petal Search Widget? First, you can click the widget itself (which looks like a search bar on the home screen) then type in the app you’re looking for. After that, you can easily download the app with just one click. It’s that easy!
Aside from using the widget, you can also use Petal Search via the phone’s browser. To do this, you first must click the Petal Search link on the Speed-Dial shortcut. After that, you can just search for the app you want, and download with just one click.
Finally, if you can’t see the widget on your P40 Pro+’s home screen, you can download the Petal Search Widget on the AppGallery if you have the latest EMUI update (v 10.1.0.131). Once that’s downloaded, you can go to the home screen, press and hold the screen, then select widget. From there, select Petal Search and then drag it over to the screen. And you’re done!
Thanks to the combo of Petal Search Widget and the AppGallery, downloading apps on a new Huawei app has never been easier! After all, the AppGallery has an ever-growing list of apps being made available, plus the Petal Search lets downloading apps from third-party sites way easier. In fact, with the two, you can now get 90% of today’s top apps on Huawei phones.
Petal Search and the P40 Pro+
The new Petal Search features comes at the perfect time as Huawei launches the P40 Pro+ in the Philippines. Thanks to this new feature, you will be easily able to download all the apps that you need to take full advantage of Huawei’s latest flagship.
For one, you can get lots of productivity apps on Petal Search that will be able to take advantage of the P40 Pro+’s powerful Kirin 990 processor. Not only does this processor pack enough power to run pretty much every app you’ll need, it also comes with 5G connectivity—meaning you’ll be able to take full advantage of the speed and low latency of 5G when it rolls out soon in the Philippines.
Aside from the powerful chipset, the P40 Pro+ has another killer feature, and that’s the cameras. At the back of the phone are five cameras: a 50MP main, 40MP ultra-wide, 8MP SuperZoom, 8MP telephoto, and 3D ToF. The P40 Pro+’s penta camera has impressive main and ultra-wide shooters for sure, but it’s the telephoto camera that we believe is the star of the show. After all, the P40 Pro+’s SuperZoom has 10x optical zoom and can shoot up to 100x digital zoom! This is definitely Huawei’s most impressive smartphone shooter yet!
That’s not all there is to the P40 Pro+ though, the phone also has a bevy of other features, including a gorgeous OLED display, a premium build, a dual selfie shooter setup, and a lot more.
If you’re looking for the bleeding edge in smartphone tech, the P40 Pro+ is definitely a smartphone well worth considering. The P40 Pro+ is available now for PHP 69,990 at Huawei concept stores, and partner offline/online retailers nationwide.
