Cosplay Mania is one of the biggest cosplay and anime conventions in the Philippines, and it has been happening for 11 years running now. For the first time since the inaugural convention back in 2008, this year’s Cosplay Mania has been postponed to 2021. The postponement of the event is due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
The announcement of Cosplay Mania 2020’s rescheduling was revealed in an update by th Cosplay PH Network (CPN) YouTube channel. Watch the full update here (6:56 for the Cosplay Mania announcement):
Cosplay Mania 2020 was originally scheduled on October 3-4, 2020 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. The event’s postponement to next year is sad news for Pinoy anime and cosplay fans for sure, though it shouldn’t come as a surprise since mass gatherings are still prohibited in light of the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
Aside from announcing that Cosplay Mania will not push through this year, the organizers announced that they will be producing an event called ‘Fanfes Online,’ an online convention where fans can participate in various activities as well as watch exclusive performances.
