Originally set to take place back in March, Rainbow Six Operation League SEA Season 1 has now been cancelled in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. This news follows the tournament’s indefinite delay which was announced once quarantine restrictions were placed in various countries in SEA.
Regarding the cancellation, Ubisoft said:
“The health and well-being of our teams, developers, players and partners is our first priority. We had planned to organize LAN finals in the capital city Manila in the Philippines to ensure fairness and equal competitive conditions for all the esports teams involved, unfortunately, in light of the evolution of the pandemic in Southeast Asia, we have taken the decision to cancel the Rainbow Six Operation League MY/SG/PH/ID Season 1. This is a decision that we have not taken lightly and we want to let our community know that we are doing our best to adapt to new ways of working to ensure everyone can keep playing and looking forward to the comeback for Rainbow Six Operation League MY/SG/PH/ID that we will be announcing soon.
Rest assured that we are doing our best to make sure that our services and support continue functioning with minimal disruption, despite the challenging circumstances.“
While the cancellation of the Rainbow Six Operation League is sad news for Rainbow Six fans in SEA, it was done for a good reason–safety. Hopefully the situation improves so that the Operation League can make a successful comeback.
