Last month at the PlayStation 5 Showcase, Sony announced that the PS5 will release in in the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea on November 12, 2020; with the rest of the world getting the console on November 19, 2020.
As of now though, Sony has yet to announce an official release date for the console in the Philippines. And from the looks of it, there’s a possibility that the console’s release in the country may be delayed.
As spotted by IGN Southeast Asia, the PS5’s official website in the Philippines no longer shows the words “Launches Holiday 2020” on the main page. Here’s a screenshot of the current PS5 Philippines page.
For reference, here’s a screenshot of the site a few days ago (via Wayback Machine):
Aside from the Philippine PS5 page, PlayStation’s official sites in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand also lack the “Launches holiday 2020” words on the main page. Currently, only the Singapore PlayStation website has a November 19, 2020 release date on the main page.
So what does this mean? Well, this might indicate that the PS5 will not release in the Philippines this November, or in Holiday 2020 for that matter. Of course, there’s no official word from Sony yet, so we’ll have to wait and see when the PS5 launches in the country.
One thing’s for sure though, the PS5 will definitely launch in the Philippines. After all, local retailers such as Datablitz already have update services that will notify buyers when the PS5 PH release info gets released.
