The Philippine smartphone market is a competitive one, with the top brands vying heavily for the number 1 spot. But as of Q4 2020, OPPO is officially the top smartphone brand in the Philippines.
According to a recent report from market-research firm International Data Corporation, OPPO shipped the most number of smartphone units in Q4 2020, beating out several of its competitors. The brand’s Q4 performance is also an improvement over Q3, where it was ranked third.
“As the market evolves, OPPO continues to work hard to make our phones more accessible and innovative to cater to the needs of the evolving Filipino consumers. We’re delighted by this achievement and are committed to continue bringing only the best products to the Filipinos, all the more at this time when people are more digitally connected,” said OPPO Philippines Marketing Director Raymond Xia.
OPPO’s growth in the country can be attributed to its smartphone lineup for 2020, specifically its entry-level phones such as the OPPO A12. There’s also the fact that the smartphone market grew by 19% quarter on quarter and 6% year on year (YoY) due to the pandemic.
OPPO is looking to continue its growth in the Philippines this 2021, with the brand already releasing a new phone–the Reno 5 series–in the country.
