D&D’s ‘Drizzt Do’Urden’ enters the world of Magic: The Gathering

Our favorite Dark Elf is back in paper!

Is it Drizzt day today? A lot of news regarding Dungeons and Dragons’ favorite dark elf just popped up out of my news feed faster than you can say “Underdark outcast”.

In a livestream event from Wizards of the Coast, they just shared to the public some preview cards for Magic: The Gathering’s upcoming set expansion called Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, particularly some heroes and villains from R.A. Salvatore’s popular The Legend of Drizzt. Take a look at the images below:

Not only will they have regular borders/templates of the cards, it is exciting to note that they will also release some aesthetics that are more akin to the D&D look. Well that pretty much dictates what Commander (EDH) and Oathbreaker decks I’ll be making once this releases.

As a fan of both Dungeons and Dragons (particularly in Drizzt’s storyline) and Magic: The Gathering, this would really be a no-brainer even if you are just a fan of one franchise or the other. This is one collaboration that really fits like a glove.

So in the next few days can we expect Wulfgar and Cattie-Brie next?

Magic: the Gathering’s expansion, Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms is expected to release July 23, 2021. We can also expect that the digital versions of the cards will roll out a bit earlier for Magic: The Gathering: Arena as well.
