In a recent stream, Ubisoft has finally given us our first look at gameplay of Far Cry 6, the new upcoming installment in the long-running Far Cry series. Aside from gameplay, the stream also gave us a new trailer, as well as a new release date for the game.
Before the gameplay deep dive, Ubisoft first showed off a new trailer which introduces the player character – Dani Rojas. Check it out here:

In the events of the game, Dani joins forces with Libertad, a group of guerilla fighters that aim to liberate Yara from the dicator Anton and his corrupt regime. As with other Ubisoft games, players have a choice between playing as a male or a female Dani Rojas.
Following the new trailer, Ubisoft gave us a deep dive at Far Cry 6’s gameplay:

Based on the showcase, Far Cry 6 plays similarly to the previous Far Cry games, but it introduces new weapons, gear, and more. And while the deep dive does show off actual gameplay footage, most of it is cut and edited. We’ll have to wait a bit to see the game in action more clearly.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Far Cry 6’s premise is described as:
“Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, dutifully at his side. Immerse in the adrenaline-filled, chaotic world of a modern-day guerrilla revolution and burn their regime to the ground.”
Far Cry 6 releases on the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia on October 7, 2021. During its initial announcement, the game was set to release in February 2021, but the release date was delayed due to the pandemic.
