Following the closure of SEGA Building 2 in Akihabara last year, it was announced recently that the Adores Building 2 game center in Akihabara is closing down on June 30, 2021. This marks another store/game center that will shut its doors due likely to the drop in tourists because of the pandemic.

In case you’re unfamiliar with Adores Building 2, it is an entertainment center which features arcade/crane games in its first two floors, as well as karaoke rooms from the 3rd to the 10th floor.
With Building 2 shutting down at the end of the month, this marks the closure of all Adores locations in Akihabara. This is because Building 1 (which is just across the street) has already closed down last November 2020.
Even though Japan has relaxed its quarantine restrictions compared to early last year, the fact that businesses in major districts such as Akihabara are closing down means that travel restrictions are still taking a toll on local establishments. Here’s hoping that stores still hang on, especially as lots of tourists will definitely flock to Japan once the situation goes back to normal (you can count us among those who will visit for sure).
Aside from Adores Building 2, the iconic Labi Store in Shinjuku has also closed down last year.
