The pandemic forced Filipinos to rethink how they shop. This includes embracing a more digital-facing shop store and shopping experience, but while doing everything online is the more optimal way to shop right now, some customers may wish to still go to physical stores to do their shopping, pay their utilities and run errands.
With the government easing restrictions, Globe sought to find a way to create a bold new innovative way to engage current (or new) Globe subscribers through its first every hybrid digital and physical store — Globe’s Shop & Pay Kiosk.
A quick, quirky and user-friendly pop-up booths that sprung currently at SM Mall of Asia and Ayala by the Bay seems like a condensed version of Globe Centers. The idea is to create a space that replicated what you can do in the bigger centers but cut the time to do so by more than half using self-service and quicker buying processes. The name of the game is to conduct your transaction as quickly and painlessly as possible. Whether it’s buying load, transferring GCash, checking latest promos, availing them, updating your Globe Plan or buying 0917 lifestyle products and accessories, you can do so in a jiffy — and with as less human contact as possible.
“Globe provides today’s life-enabling essentials packaged in a reinvented retail experience centered on customer care and safety. With the pandemic and the growing adoption of digital technologies, we saw a big opportunity to mix online and on-ground retail experience for our customers,” said Bernie Llamzon, Globe EVP for Channel Management.
The Shop & Pay initiative aims to ease those who may be hesitant to visit and transact in physical stores. Instead of engaging with customer service representatives, Globe customers can interact with carefully calibrated digital touchscreen displays in purchasing products and availing services. QR codes can be scanned, leading to online shops for payment and delivery requests.
There are vending machines placed inside the kiosk as well for those who may want to purchase physical load cards or even Globe 5G Sim Cards.
There’s also an experience center where Globe partnered handset displays can be tried by visitors. There’s an interesting “lift & learn” program attached to the demo units displayed.
Once a demo unit is lifted, the video displayed will be interrupted to show the features of the phone and the corresponding hero offer bundled with it. If two demo units are lifted, a comparative table will appear to show both phone features and plan offers. This makes learning about the device and the corresponding Globe plans attached to it much effective.
Most of the experience inside the Globe Shop & Pay will be self-service, but should you need assistance, there will be a store rep to assist you. As far as cleanliness is concerned, there are alcohol stations scattered throughout the station and the design of the the store itself helps minimize contact with other people within the premise — really giving you that peace of mind to shop at your leisure.
As part of the opening promotion, Globe also gives you free 30 mins of WiFi Access within the Shop & Pay station so you can try the service and transact.
If you’re itching to try this new on-ground digital kiosk out and live far away from the locations stated above, don’t worry as Globe aims to open 11 more Shop & Pay Stations before the year ends.
