Following the Asia Pacific Forza Cup last year, Porsche has just announced the Porsche Gran Turismo Cup Asia Pacific tournament. This upcoming esports racing tournament will be played in Gran Turismo Sport on the PS4, and it will take place from September 5 until December 2021.
This event is open to participants from Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, the Philippines and New Zealand. Competitors will be able to collect points across five qualifying rounds, with each round comprising of two competition slots. Each round will take place in a iconic racing circuits from all over the world, including Circuit de la Sarthe, Fuji Speedway, Mount Panorama, and the Goodwood Motor Circuit. Different Porsche cars will also be used for every track, with cars such as the 919 Hybrid and the 962 C being available.
The racers who make it to the five spots in the semifinals will meet the top racers from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan (with each sending their top five). Following the semifinals, the top 10 racers will advance to the finals, with the winner receiving a grand prize of an all-expenses paid Porsche weekend in Tokyo. This trip will include a visit to the Porsche Experience Centre Tokyo, along with other Porsche moments.
