At CES 2022, Intel officially announced its new 12th Gen Intel Core mobile processor lineup, along with new desktop CPUs.
The new laptop processor line from Intel is headlined by the flagship Intel Core i9-12900HK — the fastest mobile processor (according to data from Intel). The 12900HK, along with the rest of the H-series mobile processors, offer up to 5 GHz frequencies, 14 cores (6 P-cores and 8 E-cores) and 20 threads for top-of-the-line performance. Intel also states that the H-series processors are up to 28% faster gaming than the the Intel Core i9-11980HK, as well as up to 43% higher performance in 3D rendering over the previous generation.
Alongside the performance enhancements, the 12th gen H-series processors also have support for for DDR5/LPDDR5 memory, integrated Intel Wi-Fi 6E, and Thunderbolt 4.
Aside from the high-end H-series, Intel also revealed the new 12th gen new U- and P-series mobile processors which are designed for slim notebooks. In total, there are 28 mobile processors revealed at CES 2022.
Along with the mobile CPUs, Intel also revealed 22 new processors for its desktop lineup. These new CPUs range from Intel Core i9 to Pentium and Celeron processors. Intel promises that these processors (65-watt and 35-watt) deliver scalable power for great gaming, creation, and productivity performance.
Finally, Intel introduced updates to the Intel Evo platform for laptops and other portable PC form factors at CES. Specifically, these updates include an additional set of system requirements to better guarantee good performance from Evo-verified notebooks.
