The issue of whether or not Elden Ring should receive an Easy Mode has been a hot topic for debate–and most people disagree. Some people would say it’s unacceptable–a shameful display of heresy towards the gift bestowed upon us by Miyazaki-sama. Indeed, I call these people “based and cultured.”
Kidding aside, an actual working mod that drastically lowers the game’s overall difficulty is available for use. The Easy Mode mod for Elden Ring essentially reduces received damage by 50%, adds a 25% damage buff to the player character, and boosts rune acquisition by 10. There’s not much to it, but you can see where this is going.
In response, the modder Silentverge had a few words:
“I got sick of seeing all of these ‘easy mode’ mods being pumped out every other day so I made this mod instead.”
Enter Prepare to Die (Hard Mode)–the polar opposite of anything remotely easy. The mod boosts enemy damage, defense, and resistance up to New Game+ levels. This means four times the stats while leaving only health, focus and stamina levels the same. There are a few more details such as enhanced AI, better senses, and a more relentless urge to chase you. Definitely not for the easily stressed.
The ‘Easy Mode’ debate will continue to rage on, for as long as FromSoftware creates games. We’ll probably never see the end of it. In the meantime, we can enjoy all the mods created by the community in order to help us forget the time we finally defeated Malenia, Blade of Miquella.
…and had to face Malenia, Goddess of Rot.
