During the recent EVE Fanfest, it was announced that EVE Online has teamed up with Microsoft to integrate Excel into the game.
As EVE Online has been called a “spreadsheet simulator” given the complex data management that players must do in the game, this collab makes sense if you think about it. Plus, during the announcement, fans literally cheered!
This is not a joke: EVE x Microsoft Excel is happening. Soon you’ll be able to transport in game date directly into Excel. Spreadsheets in space made easy. Crowd is loving this. #evefanfest pic.twitter.com/723wnpFlkQ

So, what does this collab entail? What this new partnership means is that EVE Online players will be able to add a JavaScript API in Excel to seamlessly export data from EVE Online. Thanks to this, players will be able to “access and calculate everything from profit margins to battle strategy,” not to mention make playing the game more accessible for both new and longtime players alike.
In case you’re unfamiliar with the game, EVE Online is a long-running sci-fi MMO where players can build and pilot spaceships. Players in EVE Online have lots of freedom in what they want to do in the game, whether it’s space exploration, PvP/PvE battles, or join one of many industries in the game’s complex player-driven economy.
More information about the EVE Online x Microsoft partnership will be revealed later this year.
