Recently, vivo launched its new T series smartphones in the Philippines, including the T1 5G which is a promising gaming mid-ranger, along with the more affordable vivo T1x.
According to vivo, the T1 5G is a phone designed to give you a turbocharged gaming experience, meaning you should be able to play today’s popular games smoothly and without any issues. On top of this, the T1 5G also has several premium features that promise to enhance the gaming experience, all while having a price tag that’s easier on the wallet compared to flagship phones.
Before we explore its gaming capabilities, let’s take a quick look at the design. The T1 5G features a distinctive look thanks to its unique camera module, and this is complemented by a sleek color which we’re definitely a fan of.
Aside from looking great, the T1 5G also feels great to hold in hand as it isn’t as slippery as other mid-range phones (good news for gaming). Though if you need more grip or protection, the phone does have a clear case packed inside the box.
Moving to the front, we have the T1 5G’s 6.44-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The AMOLED panel means the phone displays vibrant colors and deep blacks which should make it a great binge-watching partner. As for the 120Hz refresh rate, this helps the phone feel smooth to use, not to mention that it enhanced the gaming experience for mobile titles that support high refresh rate displays.
For its cameras, the phone packs a 64MP main + 8MP ultra-wide + 2MP macro triple rear camera setup, as well as a 16MP front camera. Given that we prioritized testing its gaming capabilities, we are still currently testing out how good the cameras are. So, you’ll have to wait for our full review before we can give a verdict on the T1 5G’s shooters.
Now we move on to its gaming performance. The T1 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 778G 5G processor that’s paired with 8GB of RAM. In our test, this configuration proved to be great for gaming, especially for today’s popular titles such as Mobile Legends and Call of Duty Mobile. While the gaming performance won’t match that of true flagship phones (which are powered by the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 series chips), the T1 5G is still quite powerful for a mid-ranger.

Along with gaming, the T1 5G is also a great performer for everyday use, at least in our initial time with it. Currently, the phone runs fast and snappily for your everyday tasks such as social media browsing and MS Office apps. Of course, we’ll have to test the phone out more to see if it delivers for more demanding tasks.
For its battery, vivo packed the T1 5G with a 4,700mAh battery with 66W Fast Charging support. This battery should be enough to last for a day of use, but we’ll have to test it out a bit more on how well it’ll hold up for all-day gaming.
Based on our initial time with it (which included a gaming test), the T1 5G has already proven to be a pretty good smartphone for gaming. And at its price of PHP 16,999, the T1 5G is more affordable than other phones with a similar processor.
So, should you get the T1 5G? While you’ll have to wait for our full review for the final verdict, the new vivo smartphone has all the makings of a great mid-range gaming phone. We’ll just have to see if the phone’s other features don’t disappoint.
