After launching on early access earlier this year, PH-based studio Secret 6 announced that it will cease development on Project Xandata.
The announcement was made via the game’s official website. There, developer Secret 6 shared a statement on why they will stop development on the game.
While the game drew interest for its fast-paced 3v3 shooter gameplay (it even got an Epic Games MegaGrant), it seems that there are some things that prevented the studio from continuing to work on the game.
Secret 6 explains their decision as:
There are also major obstacles that our team continues to face, which led us to a difficult decision. After careful consideration, we have decided to cease further development for Project Xandata.
This was brought about by several technical and business factors. Starting as an R&D project using Unreal Engine, issues rooted in our decisions when we were still learning have become detrimental to our current development. These created major obstacles for us in building and designing new features. Despite some successes during its launch, continued development of the game is no longer viable in the long run.
While development on Project Xandata will no longer continue, Secret 6 affirmed that a smaller team will be there to deal with bugs and maintain the game’s stability. The game’s servers will also be open until May 31, 2023.
Despite this sad news, Secret 6 mentioned that their team is still committed to create original games in the future alongside their work as an art and external development studio for big triple-A titles.
