Drag Lord Manila Luzon is ready to crown the Philippines’ first Drag Supreme tonight at the Finale episode of Drag Den Philippines, a Drag reality show unlike no other. With 8 Queens battling out week after week showcasing their Wit, Talent and Beauty, top 3 finalist will compete one last time for the crown by 7pm tonight only at Prime Videos.
NAIA, Shewarma, and Maria Cristina scored the highest points across 6 weeks of grueling Themeware showcases, group and individual activities, and the show’s signature Dragdagulan – an ode to the Barangayan aspect of gay pageants performed on the street. For Drag Den, this equates to a wrecking ball prop where two queens are chosen each episode to battle it all out (most of the times physically) on stage to win a competitive advantage for their next challenge. Beating out the other Queens of the drag cartel, namely, O-A, Aries Night, Barbie-Q, Pura Luka Vega, Lady Gagita, the Top 3 Finalist must put everything on the line for tonight’s crown.
During the press launch for the Grand Finale of Drag Den Philippines, series creator and director Rod Singh expressed her gratitude for the reception to the show.
“For an inaugural season of a new show with a unique format, their level of support was way beyond our expectations. Aside from watching the show on Prime Video, these fans also watch our viewing parties. They send tips and gifts to our queens,” said Rod Singh.
Drag Den Philippines pushes the Drag Reality show further by incorporating heavy Pinoy themes, issues, and pop culture (as well as tradition) references into the show – something that Manila Luzon found fascinating as well. Serving as executive producer of the show, Manila Luzon shines an international spotlight to promote Pinoy Drag talents on the world stage. According to her and showrunner Singh, there have been viewing parties all over the world including New York and West Hollywood in part because of Prime Videos and Manila Luzon’s worldwide status.
“Having Manila as our ‘Drag Lord’ is a blessing,” says Singh. “She came when I almost gave up my dream of creating the show. She is very collaborative and I am very grateful that she also trusted me. It’s a relief to have a host like her because aside from her dedication to sharing her platform with Filipino Drag Queens, she is also very passionate about promoting our show.”
Produced by CS Studios, Singh and Antoinette Jadaone of Project 8 Projects, the exciting finale of Drag Den with Manila Luzon drops on January 26, 7 pm PHT, only on Prime Video.
