At MWC 2023, HONOR gave us our first look at its new foldable Magic Vs along with its flagship Magic5 Pro.

This marks the start of HONOR’s new dual-flagship strategy. Aside from continuing its Magic series, HONOR also introduced a new flagship foldable to complement its main high-end offering.

While this isn’t the first foldable from HONOR, the Magic VS is the first to be released outside China.

The Magic Vs’ main highlight is no doubt its folding display. Specifically, the phone has a large 7.9-inch internal display that has a squarer aspect ratio that makes it more tablet-like. Though at the front, it has a 6.45-inch 21:9 display for a more standard phone experience.

HONOR also promises that this folding screen’s hinge will stand the test of time as it is rated to withstand up to 400,000 folds (as tested by TÜV Rheinland). This should be the equivalent of ten years of use based on 100 fold per day. What’s also interesting is that the hinge is designed in such a way that there’s almost no gap when folded, plus it unfold almost fully flat.

Powering the phone is a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform which promises true flagship-level performance. The phone is also equipped with a triple rear shooter setup consisting of a 54MP IMX800 Main Camera, a 50MP Ultra-Wide & Macro Main Camera, and an 8MP 3X Optical Zoom Camera.

Moving on to the Magic5 Pro, this is the latest phone in HONOR’s signature flagship lineup, and it packs a a 6.81-inch LTPO Display which the brand dubs as a “Quad-Curved Floating Screen” thanks to its curved edges.

Powering the phone is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor which should make it a powerful device. It should also last for a while on a single charge as it packs a 5100mAh battery, complete with 66W Wired and 50W Wireless HONOR SuperCharge.

Perhaps its signature feature though is its camera setup. The phone has a 50MP Wide + 50MP Ultra Wide + 50MP Telephoto triple rear camera setup that’s currently the top-ranked phone camera on DXOMARK. This camera setup also has a range of unique features, including the “Millisecond Falcon Capture algorithm” for clear photos of moving subjects, as well as IMAX Enhanced Movie Master that aims to let users capture and produce cinema-level videos.

“Committed to addressing the real needs of customers, HONOR adopts a human-centric approach to product innovation, offering intuitive technology solutions to improve the daily lives of everyone,” said George Zhao, CEO of HONOR Device Co, Ltd. “The HONOR Magic5 Pro, our latest flagship all-rounder, and the HONOR Magic Vs, our first foldable flagship to be launched in the global market, push industry benchmarks in every aspect of smartphone user experience, in line with our vision to enable a smarter life for everyone.”

It’s not confirmed yet if these new flagship HONOR devices will be released in the Philippines. If they will be, expect pricing and availability info to be announced soon.
