Netflix recently announced that it has lowered its prices in the Philippines, including two of its current subscription plans in the country.
Specifically, the lowered subscription price for the service was effective yesterday, February 1, 2023.
With the updated pricing, Pinoy subscribers will only have to pay PHP 249 for the Basic Plan (down from PHP 369). Meanwhile, Standard Plan users will now only need to shell out PHP 399 (down from PHP 359).
Right now though, not all the plans have gotten the price updates. The Mobile Plan and Premium Plan are both still priced at PHP 149 and PHP 549 per month, respectively.
These new prices for the Basic and Standard plans are available now for new subscribers. Meanwhile, the updated pricing will roll out to existing subscribers in the coming weeks for their next billing cycle. Subscribers will get notified of the updated pricing via email and via the Netflix app.
The update to the prices of Netflix Philippines subscriptions is a surprising move. After all, many expect subscription services like these to raise prices instead. Though it makes sense given the rise in competition among streaming services in the country.
