Recently, we get our hands on the realme 10 Pro+ 5G, the first new phone from the brand this year.
It’s been quite a run for realme, as they’ve been consistently on the grind when it comes mobile device ingenuity over the span of just a few years–wrapping up 2022 with the introduction of the realme 10.
With a solid midrange lineup, they’re bringing out the big guns in 2023 courtesy of the 10’s sleeker, more stylish, and badass younger sibling, the realme 10 Pro+ 5G.
While the realme 10 brought ease of use and simplicity without compromising quality, the 10 Pro+ 5G cranks it up a notch both in overall looks, and most definitely under the hood.
Its thin design, curved screen, and thinner bezels offer a premium look that we find ourselves demanding from upper-midrange phones. It’s safe to say they went above and beyond in this department.
We have the Dark Matter colorway in hand, and it not only looks, but feels like money in the bank. It also comes in Hyperspace Gold and Nebula Blue–all of which look otherworldly, which I believe was the point.
Its 6.7-inch, 2412 X 1080 resolution AMOLED display is absolutely vibrant, and offers smooth navigation coupled with a snappy 120hz refresh rate. Watching just about anything won’t be a problem, and going through the multitude of apps on your phone will be a breeze.
Speaking of apps and going through all of them, the Dimensity 920 5G Chipset gives you enough power to make this device much more than just your daily driver. The 8 GB of RAM ensures smooth sailing and easy gaming–and another 8 gigabytes of dynamic RAM helps in a pinch, especially with more intense gaming sessions.
As always, our personal benchmark for gaming is good ol’ Genshin Impact. Long story short, it runs easy-peasy. Moving on from our beloved Mobile Legends, newcomer Goddess of Victory: NIKKE is our new “less-intense” test of mettle. Well, if you’re into the “physics” of the game, you’ll be enjoying it much more than you would’ve on a lesser-spec’d phone.
If it’s crystal clear audio you desire, then listen no further. The 10+ Pro 5G comes equipped with dual speakers that provide crisp audio, even if you crank it up to 200%, making great use of its Ultra Volume mode.
Now, let’s talk shooters–camera shooters, to be exact.
The 108MP AI triple cameras promise quality, and they deliver. Foregoing the bonus features for now, the 108MP Prolight Camera delivers vibrant photos–regardless of the lighting. Of course, just make sure you’re not in complete darkness.
The 8MP ultrawide and 4 cm macro lens still provide a good amount of detail that you wouldn’t fine in other midrange phones.
The 16MP selfie camera is quite the shooter as well, making even the most nondescript of subjects like myself, look surprisingly decent. This, of course, is all out of the box. We’ve yet to tinker with all the other features these lenses offer, and believe me, you’re spoiled for choice.
One little, yet crucial detail, before I forget: a massive 5000 mAh battery with 67W SUPERVOOC charging. You’d think all this power would come at a price, like battery life. Well, realme didn’t cut any corners here. You’ll be out and a bout longer, and back in action quicker. We’ve yet to test the battery’s true capacity as the phone is still powered half-way after two days. We’ll see how things go.
If 2022’s realme 10 wasn’t quite your cup of tea, whether due to a lack of features or overly simplistic look, then the realme 10 Pro+ 5G will be right up your alley. It’s stylish, it’s flashy, it’s powered by rocket fuel, and its a compelling choice for content creators, gamers, and people who just want to get the job done–easily.
In terms of pricing, we’ll get back to you when it drops. Given it’s part of the upper-midrange lineup, we’re looking at a possible 18-23 thousand peso price range.
