As shared on the Twitter post above, the film had its advanced screening last Tuesday, March 7, 2023, and will have its official Japanese theatrical release on March 17, 2023, in select cinemas. It will have its nationwide release on the next day, March 18, 2023.
Shin Kamen Rider is the Evangelion’s creator third movie reboot of a classic “tokusatsu” series, starting from Shin Godzilla released way back in 2016. It was later followed by Shin Ultraman which was released last year in May 2022.
This reboot will star Sosuke Ikematsu as Takeshi Hongo/ Kamen Rider 01 (Ichi-go), Emoto Tasuku as Ichimonji Hayato/ Kamen Rider 02 (Nigo), with Hamabe Minami as Midorikawa Ruriko.
Initially, Shin Kamen Rider was aiming for a 2021 release window, timing its release date for the whole franchise’s 50th anniversary, but due to the pandemic the production was halted pushing the release date this year.
