After its reveal in February, Ubisoft finally released Operation Commanding Force, the first season of Rainbow Six Siege Year 8.
As is the highlight of any new season in the game, the most exciting addition of Operation Commanding Force is the new Brazilian Operator Brava. This new Operator is an Attacker equipped with the Kludge Drone gadget.
With this gadget, Brava can sabotage enemy tech by taking control or destroying opponents’ devices. Brava is a three speed, one health Operator with a loadout that features a PARA-308 or a CAMRS as a primary weapon and a USP40 or a Super Shorty as a secondary weapon.
Along with Brava, the latest season introduces MouseTrap, a new anti-cheat feature. With this, the game detects when some players use a mouse and keyboard on a console instead of a controller. Once detected, players who use KBM controls will get a penalty; this is to keep the playing field even for players on consoles.
There’s also the addition of more anti-toxicity measures, including a new Reputation Penalty for abusive voice chat. This feature mutes repeat offenders by default to prevent hateful and disruptive content in voice chat. For muted players, they can still be heard by other players if they are manually unmuted.
Other features of the new season update include the immersive reload system where interrupting a reload animation will leave the player without a magazine if they reload before it is completely empty. On the flip side, bolt weapons will have a single round inside the barrel that can be fired at any point during a reload.
To make the game more accessible to new players, Rainbow Six Siege also introduces Beginner Challenges and Operator Specialties. The Beginner Challenges will give players rewards by completing certain objectives while Operator Specialties help beginners leanr various Operator tips and tricks.
Finally, players can get the limited-time Year 8 Pass from February 20 until March 20. This pass unlocks the four seasonal Battle Passes, gives a 14-day early access to new Operators when they launch, and more.
Operation Commanding Force is now live on Rainbow Six Siege on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and Windows PC.
