The fight continues as Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros. shared the title of the Godzilla VS Kong sequel called Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
Officially, the new movie is described as:
“This latest entry in the Monsterverse franchise follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”
The 35-second-long teaser did not reveal many details about the upcoming film, but it did give us some clues about what to expect from the film. It showed us a glimpse of what appears to be a new foe sitting in the throne room on the hollow earth, and it quickly pans to the skulls of Godzilla and Kong, truly making us intrigued if this new challenger is powerful enough to challenge the King of the Monsters. But based on what we have seen, Godzilla must team up with Kong once again to defeat this new threat.
Adam Wingard, who directed 2021’s Godzilla vs Kong, will return as the film’s director, while Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry will reprise their roles from the previous films. Meanwhile, other confirmed cast members includes Dan Stevens, Fala Chen, Alex Ferns, and Rachel House as new characters in the Monsterverse.
Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire is scheduled to be released on March 15, 2024.
