With the console version’s release just over a week away, Relic Entertainment shared a new Dev Diary that focuses on the Company of Heroes 3 Console Edition.
In this Dev Diary, developers over at Relic shared how they made the game’s console edition, specifically in the challenges that they faced with transitioning this historically PC-only series to consoles. After all, a controller is wildly different from a keyboard and mouse, especially for strategy games like this.

This upcoming console edition of Company of Heroes 3 will release later this month, though the game itself was initially released earlier this year on PC. The new version comes with console-specific features, including a rebuilt control scheme for controllers, as well as an enhanced UI.
As for the game, its premise is described as:
Company of Heroes’ renowned boots-on-the-ground storytelling will bring players to the Mediterranean Theatre of War where they can experience two different Campaigns, unlock authentic new tactics, four distinct factions, and a wealth of untold stories from World War II. Company of Heroes 3 on consoles offers players a custom UI, full gamepad support, and special features that allow them to play at their own pace. The user interface has been adapted for gamepads to ensure a fun and immersive experience for all.
Company of Heroes 3 Console Edition will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on May 30, 2023.
