Following its reveal last year, Columbia Pictures has released the first official trailer and poster for the upcoming Gran Turismo movie.
In case you missed it, this upcoming movie is based on the ever-popular PlayStation racing sim series, Gran Turismo. Instead of being an adaptation of the games though (which is pretty much impossible as GT doesn’t really have a story), it is instead based on the real-life story of Jann Mardenborough, a Gran Turismo player who was able to make the jump to real-life racing.
Check out the new Gran Turismo movie trailer here:
This movie is directed by Neil Blomkamp, the director of films such as District 9 and Chappie. Meanwhile, it stars David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Archie Madekwe, Darren Barnet, and Djimon Hounsou. For F1 fans (and Spice Girls lovers), the film also stars Geri Halliwell Horner — yes that’s Ginger Spice and also the wife of Red Bull Racing Team Principal, Christian Horner.
Meanwhile, here’s a look at the official poster:
Gran Turismo isn’t the first live-action project under PlayStation. First there was the Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland, then there was HBO’s The Last of Us series. Soon, we’ll also get a Horizon and a God of War adaptation.
The Gran Turismo movie will be released in cinemas later this year. For now, there’s no word yet on a specific release date. Though Columbia Pictures did confirm that the film will be released in the Philippines sometime in 2023.
