To open the Xbox Games Showcase 2023, Microsoft finally gave fans the second trailer for the long-awaited Fable from Playground Games.
While it’s certainly a strong opener for the show, it still doesn’t show actual gameplay and combat footage, meaning the game’s release is likely quite a ways away. Though it’s still worth watching given that the trailer is made entirely with in-engine footage.
Plus, the new Fable trailer stars and is narrated by the popular British comedian, Richard Ayoade. Check it out here:
Based on the trailer, Richard Ayoade plays a vegetable enthusiast who also happens to be a giant. And from what happens, it seems that Ayoade will be an enemy or boss fight for the player, though it’s not clear if he will be a major character in the actual game.
In case you missed its reveal, the game is being developed by Playground Games, the studio behind the Forza Horizon series. Given that this will be the first non-racing game from the studio, it’ll be interesting to see how the game will play.
Right now, there’s no word yet on when Fable will be released. Though it’s confirmed that the game will be released on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a Day One Game Pass release also guaranteed (as with all first party Xbox titles).
