Following the film’s release in Japan, it was confirmed that Hideaki Anno’s Shin Kamen Rider is coming to cinemas in the Philippines.
Specifically, the film will be released in selected SM Cinemas locations beginning July 5, 2023. The film’s release was announced via the Viewers’ Choice Philippines Facebook page (which is the page of a PH movie distributor).
The film’s release follows the limited cinema screening of Shin Ultraman last year, another tokusatsu movie that’s part of the Shin Japan Heroes trilogy.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Shin Kamen Rider is a live-action movie that’s directed by Hideaki Anno, the legendary creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion. The film is the third in Anno’s tokusatsu trilogy, following Shin Godzilla and Shin Ultraman, the former of which was also directed by Anno.
Given the film’s retry style, Shin Kamen Rider promises to be a must-watch for fans of the iconic Japanese series. And while it should delight long-time fans, the story is standalone, meaning even those who are new to the series can follow the story.
