2023 continues to be one heck of a year for Websligner fans with the massive cinematic hit of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and come October 20, gamers will be treated with one of the most anticipated sequels on the PS5. A short but very sweet Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Story Trailer was released, revealing more details about the game that fans have been wondering about since the initial announcement.
Check out the brand-new Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Trailer here:
As expected, the main cast of characters we’ve all come to know and love from the past 2 games make a return with Peter, Miles, and MJ (and looking really dang good in doing so). The Story Trailer also shows glimpses of the stunning New York open world with vibrant and densely filled environments.
More prominently, we also get our first look at Harry Osborn, who seems to be taking a central role in the emotional core of the narrative. Aside from Harry having closer ties to Peter Parker, being his best friend and all, the story trailer suggests Miles will also be affected in a way that his newfound mentor will become more distant than ever before.
And nothing encapsulates the rift in Peter and Miles’ relationship more than the introduction of Venom. The gameplay trailer that was unveiled during this year’s Summer Games Fest showed Peter using the black suit and how it severely affects him in both gameplay and narrative. He’s angry and dismissive, a far cry from the soft and heroic figure from the first two games. The new story trailer shows a tease of Venom in his unhinged form. How this will affect the protagonists in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is something to look out for. If there’s anything Insomniac Games have proven in their Spider-Man games is that they’re excellent at emotionally resonant storytelling.
As if a destructive alien isn’t already big enough trouble, Kraven the Hunter was also featured in the new story trailer as another significant antagonist in the game. What’s a Spider-Man story if not trying to juggle multiple headaches at once, right? Coincidently, the character will also get his own live-action film coming this October as well with Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is coming exclusively to PS5 on October 20, 2023. The game’s tagline: “Be Greater. Together” tells us all we need to know about how massive this sequel is shaping up to be. It’s a great time to be a Spider-Man fan.
