Is Baldur’s Gate 3 Steam Deck compatible? The answer is a resounding yes!
For those adventurers wanting to take Baldur’s Gate 3 to the great outdoors for a legitimate (and not to mention, portable) D&D experience will be pleased to know that the game is now officially Steam Deck verified.
Check out the Tweet below from the game’s official Twitter page. Yes I said Twitter as I still have to adjust to the rebranding.

Now, despite this bit of good news the experience is still far from optimal. What’s unusual is you still need to tweak some settings outside the game. Before firing up the title, I would highly encourage to enable “Proton Experimental” under compatibility as the game (as of this post) wont even proceed to the title screen. So make sure tick that option first.
Adding to this, AMD FSR 1.0 is available on the get-go, which helps boost the graphics a bit. My personal settings for AMD FSR was set to “Ultra” quality but your preference may vary. Hopefully, we get a patch soon that will feature AMD FSR 2.0 which I think will be much more desirable.
And with that, here’s my suggested settings for the Steam Deck. This might change soon with future patches.
- Launcher option: DirectX 11
- Overall Graphics Preset = Medium
- Maximum Frame Rate = 30 fps
- Frame Rate Cap = On
- AMD FSR 1.0 = Ultra Quality
- Cloud Quality = Low
- Fog Quality = Low
- Shadow Quality = Low
- Model quality: Low
- Texture filtering: Trilinear
- Ambient occlusion: Off
