After sharing a new trailer recently, ATLUS revealed another round of Persona 5 Tactica character and battle details. Specifically, ATLUS showed off the official character art for four more Phantom Thieves along with their respective Personas.
Meanwhile, the battle details in Persona 5 Tactica that were revealed include character switching, various enemy types, and more.
To start, here’s a look at the official art of Yusuke Kitagawa, Makoto Nijima, Futaba Sakura, and Haru Okumura along with their signature Personas:
Along with the official character visuals, ATLUS also shared new details about the game’s combat. For starters, because the game is a tactical RPG instead of a turn-based JRPG like the original Persona 5, players can freely switch three characters on the battlefield at any time with the press of a button. This allows for more freedom to plan out moves.
Positioning is important in battles, especially if players want to get a Triple Threat (All-Out Attack) for maximum damage. Plus, players should also remember that having the high ground is important. Players should also prioritize knocking off an enemy from the high ground. Having an ally waiting nearby when an enemy falls to the ground means a Follow-Up Attack is on the cards.
Aside from specific battle details, ATLUS also shared three new enemy types that players will face.
- Musketeer: Specializes in shooting from a distance.
- Grenadier: A melee specialist that dashes towards foes and counters upon being attacked.
- Little Drummer: Though they’re not a threat on their own, this enemy can heal and buff their allies, making battles all the more difficult.
Though Persona 5 Tactica features new gameplay, it brings back the Persona-signature fusion mechanic. As always, fusion can be done in The Velvet Room. But in Tactica, The Velvet Room is occupied by a blacksmith-style Lavenza. Plus, the room is made to resemble a refinery from the Industrial Revolution to keep in theme.
Finally, ATLUS shared the second English-subtitled episode of Nyahoo News. This new episode shares info about the Kingdoms and the tyrant Marie, as well as thepolitician Toshiro Kasukabe. On top of these character details, the video also showcases the basics of battle; and other gameplay elements
Persona 5 Tactica will release on November 17, 2023, for the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass, and PC. The game is also available for pre-order now. Players who pre-order or buy the game early will receive the Orpheus Picaro and Izanagi Picaro Personas.
