After much anticipation, Ahsoka was finally released on Disney+ last week, and it racked up over 14 million views globally for its debut episode “Master and Apprentice.”
This is quite a big number, especially as it only counts the first episode. For reference, as with most Star Wars shows on the platform, Ahoska got two episodes during its debut.
Regarding the show’s impressive Disney+ debut, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said:
“Ahsoka has become a fan favorite with people of all ages and it’s wonderful to see her continue to resonate with viewers in her very own headlining series. I want to recognize the fantastic work done by our creative team, led by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, the incredible cast led by Rosario Dawson, and our talented crew — and on behalf of the team and all of Lucasfilm, we give our thanks to all the fans who have been with Ahsoka on every step of her journey and to all those who are just learning about her now in Ahsoka on Disney+.”
Of course, it’s hard to really determine how great this number is in comparison to other Star Wars Disney+ shows. What we can say for certain is that it has been well-received by critics and fans alike, with many calling it a must-watch especially for those who have seen Star Wars: Rebels. This make sense given that, in many ways, Ahsoka is basically a sequel to Rebels as it features a lot of returning characters from that show.
Ahsoka will continue with Episode 4 on September 5, 2023.
