It’s been nearly five years since the first Aquaman film, and finally, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has gotten a Philippines cinema release date.
Warner Bros. Pictures recently announced that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is coming to cinemas on December 20 in various countries across the world, including the Philippines.
Along with its release date, a new trailer for the film was also released which you can see here:
As for its premise, the film’s story is described as:
“Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.”
Meanwhile, the film stars:
- Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman
- Patrick Wilson as Orm
- Amber Heard as Mera
- Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta
- Nicole Kidman as Atlanna
- Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus
- Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.
It’s fair to say that DC’s recent films haven’t been big hits despite movies like Blue Beetle getting good reviews. So, it’s likely that Warner Bros. is banking on this film to deliver in the box office. From the looks of it, the Lost Kingdom has the best chance of getting a great box office run, especially considering that the first Aquaman film is the highest-grossing DCEU movie ever.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will release in cinemas in the Philippines and in other countries across the world on December 20. Specific details, including a cinema list, will be shared closer to the film’s release.
