ATLUS and VANILLAWARE unveil new tactical RPG ‘Unicorn Overlord’

Unicorn Overlord is coming to to consoles in March 2024.

SEGA recently announced ATLUS and VANILLAWARE’s 20th-anniversary project titled Unicorn Overlord, a new RPG coming to consoles in March 2024.

This new JRPG from the creators of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim promises to deliver a memorable story with engaging gameplay that fans of the studio’s work will love.

Meanwhile, the game is described as:

“Featuring innovative strategic battles, open exploration, and high-resolution graphics and characters byVANILLAWARE, meet new companions and face off against a great evil in this classic adventure.

Unicorn Overlord delicately blends the new and the old into a unique and unforgettable experience. Delve into a rich, immersive landscape with a distinctive battle system that incorporates elements hearkening back to the golden age of 16-bit gaming.”

Limited Edition Product Lineup and Early Purchase Bonus

Aside from the trailer, ATLUS and VANILLAWARE also revealed the game’s Limited Edition versions — both the physical and digital options.

To start, here is what you can expect in the physical Monarch Edition (Limited Edition):

  • A special deluxe box designed by VANILLAWARE
  • 16-bit arrangement album: Background music of the game arranged into 16-bit tracks by Basiscape (2 CDs)
  • Artbook: Includes character illustrations, thematic concepts, preliminary designs and sketches, and more (132 pages)
  • Original Card Game: A complete original card game for 2–4 players, designed by VANILLAWARE
  • Physical Copy of Unicorn Overlord game (English ver.)

The Monarch Edition will also be available in a Digital Deluxe Edition that includes:

  • 16-bit arrangement album (DLC): Background music of the game arranged into 16-bit tracks by Basiscape
  • Digital Artbook (DLC): Includes character illustrations, thematic concepts, preliminary designs and sketches, and more (132 pages)
  • Unicorn Overlord game (digital version)

Finally, there’s also an Early Purchase Bonus set: the ATLUS and VANILLAWARE Coat of Arms Set (DLC).

This DLC allows the player to customize their army’s banner with coats of arms based on three VANILLAWARE games: Odin Sphere, Dragon’s Crown, and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.
