HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 Review | Geek Lifestyle

The HUAWEI Watch GT 4 is one stylish timepiece with a host of premium features to back up its stunning good looks.

Having produced some of the best, most spectacular devices in the span of just a year, HUAWEI brings its users a harmonic fusion between high fashion and premium hardware with their brand new HUAWEI Watch GT 4. The GT series has always been at the forefront of great-looking timepieces that also provide a slew of technological marvels. In the war of the wearables, they undoubtedly have a place at the top.

Now, make no mistake, this isn’t your average smartwatch. HUAWEI made this clear through the years as they’ve been upping the ante with each entry to their popular GT series. What isn’t broke didn’t get fixed, what was already great was streamlined even further. As it subtly sheds its initially sporty appearance even further and adapts a more timeless design worthy of your display box, we intend to include as many watch puns  in this review without going off the rails. This really is one good-looking watch.

That being said, is it worth your time?

Geek-sthetic

The Huawei Watch GT 4 still has that GT vibe going for it, but took a double degree in style and class. It features a stunning 1.43-inch AMOLED screen with an impressive 326 PPI density. For something so small, you get a pleasant viewing experience. You’ll definitely be enjoying every inch of its 466x 466 vibrant resolution. The 46mm face with fixed octagonal bezels are no-nonsense as always, embraced by a sturdy stainless steel body. It’s neither too bulky, nor too flimsy-looking. It’s packing a lot of beef at 48 grams.

Our Watch GT 4 comes in the green colorway featuring an easily detachable strap made of sea-recycled nylon–which supposedly accounts for about 90% of said strap. At first glance, you’d think you’re sporting a fabric-clad strap, but the added durability and comfort of the rubber underneath is always welcome. Taking a look at the backside, you’ll be greeted by a shiny polymer-finish that you’ll feel the need to wipe off every time–even if you don’t necessarily need to.

You get 12 swappable watch faces by default, and the customizable feature via the HUAWEI Health app makes an epic comeback. While I’m not too keen on having my watch match my outfits, I do enjoy the idea of having it sport some outlandish colors based on my whims. As always, it’s as easy as taking a photo of the colors you desire, then choosing a watch face setup to seal the deal.

Speaking of the HUAWEI Health app, it’s just as reliable as always.

Sports & Health

As a pioneer in wearable health tech, HUAWEI made sure that ease-of-access comes first. Having an entire, tactile screen with the UI of a smartphone by default can be daunting at first. While this is nothing new in general, you can appreciate how seamlessly you can navigate through the Watch GT 4’s features. If it’s not to your liking, though, you can switch between list and grid view in the settings.

The HUAWEI Watch GT 4 shines when it comes to round-the-clock health monitoring. After all, we’re still reeling from the past couple of years, so taking care of one’s self should still be a priority. I’m not much of a health buff myself, but knowing that I can take that step towards better living at the swipe of a screen is always reassuring. With helpful features such as heart rate monitoring, SpO2, blood oxygen monitoring, sleep analyses via HUAWEI TruSleep 3.0, stress management, and health reminders baked right into the HUAWEI Health app, you have all your bases covered.

As far as having a reliable partner in keeping your health in check, and possibly pushing you to get into fighting form for that next marathon, the Watch GT 4 can get the job done on both sides. You don’t have to be in tip-top shape to appreciate the wealth of features, but it sure makes you want to go for a jog in the morning.

Everyday Reliability

To make use of all the HUAWEI Watch GT4’s features, you’ll need to pair it up with the HUAWEI Health app, which can only be downloaded from the HUAWEI AppGallery. Worry not, for it’s just as easy as downloading your favorite games. We’re not saying the watch will become a brick without the proprietary app. It’ll just have severely limited potential–especially in monitoring your health.

That being said, pairing it up with your phone is easy, and you’ll literally be up and running in just a few minutes. Aside from the useful health applications, you’ll also have full rein of your messenger apps, and even remote access to your camera. It’s a comfy, great-looking watch that’s packed with helpful features.

In terms of battery life, you’re guaranteed a whopping 14 days of continuous usage. It’s been a week with ours, and it’s barely past 80%. You won’t likely be needing the included charger for those long trips. Besides, having to worry about such a thing might have adverse effects on your heart rate. It’s counterproductive.

Geek Lifestyle Recommendation

The HUAWEI Watch GT 4 is great-looking, has great features, and is overall, a great watch. It’s a bit on the hefty side, but considering the looks, features, and overall reliability, you might want to put this on your shopping list, just in case.

You can check it out at the Huawei Online Store and their official shops over at Shopee and Lazada. To stay up to date on anything HUAWEI, follow their official pages on Facebook and Instagram.
