Netflix’s One Piece live-action series Season 2 is official

We can't wait to see Chopper in live-action!

After blowing everyone’s expectations, the One Piece live-action series from Netflix is confirmed to continue with Season 2! The show’s second season was revealed via a recent message shared by Netflix from One Piece creator, Eiichiro Oda.

Eiichiro Oda’s message reads:

“To the Straw Hat Grand Fleet: What did you think of Season 1 of the live-action ONE PIECE? I spent a long time working on it with Netflix and Tomorrow Studios. It seems people around the world have been enjoying the show, which makes the hard work from the production team truly worth it.

To everyone who’s been a fan of ONE PIECE for years, and to those who experienced ONE PIECE for the first time, thank you so much.

Two weeks after the launch, I just received some great news. Netflix has decided to renew the show! The adventures of Iñaki and the live-action Straw Hats will continue onward!

It’ll still take a while to get the scripts ready, so please be patient.

From here on, it seems to me the Straw Hats will need a great doctor… We will see!”

Most live-action anime adaptations aren’t well-received. Thankfully, One Piece broke the curse as it received great reviews from critics and fans. Not to mention that it reached the Top 10 in 93 countries, and debuted at #1 in 46. Plus, it continues to be among the most-watched shows on Netflix over the past weeks.

Thanks to its success, it’s no surprise that the One Piece live-action series is getting a season 2. Though fans might have to wait a bit longer for it. At least, Eiichiro Oda’s message reveals that Chopper will finally appear in the next season.

In case you haven’t seen it yet, the One Piece live-action series is now streaming worldwide exclusively on Netflix.
