In the realm of gaming, few titles have generated as much hype as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the long-awaited sequel to the critically acclaimed Final Fantasy VII Remake. Gamers around the world are eager to delve back into the captivating world of Gaia and reunite with beloved characters. To shed light on some of the burning questions fans have, we had the privilege of sitting down with Game Director Naoki Hamaguchi for an interview alongside other SEA press as he reveals what it will be like for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth saved files.
Will Final Fantasy VII saved files carry over to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth?
One of the most pressing queries from fans has been whether saved files from the previous games, namely Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, will carry over into Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Hamaguchi was quick to clarify this aspect, stating that saved files will not carry over. Players will embark on their journey in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth with a clean slate, without the accumulated levels and equipment from the previous games.
Hamaguchi explained the reasoning behind this decision: “When we envisioned the trilogy, we wanted each game to function as a standalone experience. We wanted newcomers to feel just as welcome as returning players, without any sense of being left behind. However, this doesn’t mean you’ll be starting from square one. The game will assume your starting level based on where most players left off in Final Fantasy VII Remake.”
Additionally, Director Hamaguchi revealed an enticing bonus for players who have saved files from Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. They will be rewarded with a special summon materia, adding a fun surprise for those who have journeyed through the enhanced version of the first game.
As anticipation for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth continues to grow, it’s reassuring to know that the development team has taken great care in creating an experience that caters to both long-time fans and newcomers alike. With the absence of level and equipment carryovers, players will have the opportunity to experience a fresh start in this highly anticipated sequel while still benefiting from their previous adventures in the world of Gaia. And with the promise of a special summon materia for Intergrade veterans, there’s even more incentive to dive back into this world when Final Fantasy VII Rebirth finally arrives on February 29, 2024.
