The One Piece live-action series is a certified hit as it has topped the Netflix charts in over 80 countries during the weekend.
While live-action anime adaptations don’t often do well, the One Piece series is an exception as it grabbed the number 1 spot in the Netflix TV show charts in 84 countries according to data from FlixPatrol. This includes various countries all over the world, including major markets like the US and Japan. The show has also topped the charts in the Philippines.
It was also noted by @OP_Netflix_Fan that One Piece has surpassed the record set by Stranger Things Season 4 and Wednesday, meaning this series is now one of Netflix’s biggest hits.

Aside from its chart-topping success, the One Piece live-action series has also gotten good reviews from both critics and fans alike. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series is certified fresh with with a score of 83%.
Meanwhile, fan reception of the series has been excellent as many fans have warmly received the series. This is in sharp contrast with most other anime live-action adaptations.

While One Piece had a lot of hype behind it, there was of course some fears that it won’t live up to the original anime and manga. Thankfully, the series has pretty much exceeded expectations, not to mention that it has pretty much broken the anime live-action curse.
Hopefully, the show’s success means that it will get renewed for a second season soon as everyone will likely love to see the Straw Hat Crew’s next adventures.
